Help, My 16yr old male cat Pee’s in litter box but poops on carpet!?
We took him to the vet and they said he has Diabetes. They changed his diet and we are seeing no change. He has gotten very lazy. He don’t groom anymore and will only pee in the litter box. His weight has dropped off and he is almost bones and fur. We are starting to wonder if it is time to have him put down? We wanted to try the vet first but we are getting to the point where cost is getting to much and we don’t want to have our house smelling.

I feel like your cat is sending you a message like he is unable to care for himself, anymore. I know how sad it must be for you. I sat vigil as a kitten I once has wasted away.
He wanted to be left alone and go in a dignified manner. He didn’t want me to force it to try and live. I did a candles and soft music thing until it passed over. Then I cried.
This is hard for me to say, but I think maybe putting the poor-thing down might be best for the both of you.
